Banana Bark
This Food For The Poor annual program gives poor Haitian parents the opportunity to earn an income to provide basic necessities for their children by tasking them with the job of gluing pieces of bark from banana trees onto cards. Once these workers assemble the cards, they are sent back to the United States and mailed to donors.
In an effort to capture the mood of the program, I chose a handcrafted look for the cards. I sketched my designs on soft rubber, carved them out, made ink prints and scanned them into a digital format for further editing.
